The first chapter established in West Texas was the Amarillo Chapter -- now the Texas Panhandle Chapter. In 1938, (we think) CEF's founder Jesse Irvin Overholtzer was traveling from California to Chicago, and made a stop in Amarillo. On a Sunday morning, he spoke to the people of Amarillo Bible Church about the new ministry the Lord had put on his heart- Child Evangelism Fellowship®. They caught the vision and organized to reach the children of the Panhandle area with the Gospel.
Our chapter is supported completely by individuals, churches, businesses, foundations...and by prayer!

Bunny Baldwin
My name is Bunny Baldwin. My husband Ronny and I have served in several ministries throughout our married life. The training that I received through the Child Evangelism Fellowship has served me well in every ministry. Homeschool Parents, Sunday School Teachers, Master Club Leaders, Mother’s Day Out Teachers/Directors, Foster Parents, Good News Club Teachers/Leaders, and Camp Good News Teachers/Directors are the areas in service in which God has led us. The Wordless Book has been shared in each of these ministries.
We attend Arden Road Baptist Church in Amarillo and have been members for over 25 years. Our children are adults, and we are still in the system as Foster Parents.
I am excited to continue the ministry in the Panhandle area as GNC Ministry Coordinator! Ronny and I will continue serving as Good News Club teachers. We teach 3 clubs a week for a couple of years. I feel so blessed by God to be able to serve Him in this ministry.

I was born in Kansas and moved to Perryton at the age of 7. My family attended the First Methodist Church where my Mother was my Sunday school teacher. At the age of 16, I gave my heart to Jesus and immediately knew that children were to be important in my life. I married and had 3 children.
In later years, I became a school teacher in Amarillo and taught Kdgn, 1st and 3rd grade. After retirement, I became the Children’s Director at Coulter Road Baptist Church. Child Evangelism Fellowship became important to me in 2001 when I was on our church staff. Teaching Good News Club is such a joy, especially to watch the children believe and grow in Christ Jesus.
The year 1981 was a memorable year as I met the love of my life, Carl Johnson. We married in 1984, to give us 7 children together. Scouting was important and another way to make a difference in the lives of children. The Lord called Carl home in September 2017 and so I carry on in the Lord’s work. I am blessed to have 17 grandchildren and 6 greats.
I am now a part-time Office Manager for the CEF office and volunteer at Coulter Road Baptist Church.
